Allison Day

Congratulations to Rebekah, Carolina, Yvo, Andrea, and Violet! They are the five winners of the Sushi Day t-shirts. :) Thanks so much to everyone else who entered… I will be emailing each of the entrants who didn’t win the contest a $5 coupon that you can use to buy a Sushi Day shirt (when we get the order form up later this week)!

I’m sure some of you are curious, so here are the answers to the contest questions:

  1. What is the key ingredient that makes sushi what it is?

    Sumeshi, or sushi rice.

  2. What is the date of Sushi Day?

November 1st (I also accepted “Every day is a sushi day!”)

  3. What kind of sushi does my family have every New Years?

Inari sushi (I also accepted “Sakae Sushi”)

  4. When is Son’s birthday, and how old is he now?

November 15th, he is 26 years old.

  5. How many different types of inari sushi have I made? (I’m counting anything that uses the inari pouches as inari…)

Four: Inari-Zushi, Fried Rice Inari, Inari Con Gambas Al Ajillo. (I also accepted five as an answer, because I did write about and have pictures of an inari in the Gunkan Maki post.)

  6. I have a sushi battle wound… where is it and how did I get it?

It is a stab wound in the palm of my left hand. I got it when the knife slipped when I was pitting an avocado for the Crazy California Roll.

  7. Which sushi roll was named after a song?

Sushi… Beyond the Sea! (The song from Finding Nemo :P )

  8. What programming language did I use to write a program to *automate* sushi posts?

  9. What video game logo did I make with sushi?

    Halo 3

  10. What is the color for leukemia? (Kinda like how pink is the color for breast cancer) What about children’s cancer? Which month are they recognized in? (For example, breast cancer is October…)

As seen here, orange is the color for leukemia, gold is the color for children’s cancer, and September is the month for both of them.

  11. What is your favorite recipe on Sushi Day?

This was an opinion question, so there is no *right* answer… but my answer would consist of Inari Sushi, Tuna Salad Sushi, Spinach Dip, Banh Mi Sushi, Stuffed Somen Salad, Kristen Maki, Bacon Crunchy Shrimp Roll, and perhaps a few to come (that I haven’t posted about yet!) ;)

  12. What would you like to see on Sushi Day that isn’t already here?

Another opinion question… I got some great responses to this! Thanks everyone! :D
