Hehe yeah, that would be weird if you were a match! Yeah, a lot of the colors are used for a ton of different things (like red for drug awareness and AIDS, etc.). I don't know how well the cupcakes would ship... but you have given me the great idea of maybe doing some bake sales at my school and my brother's school... I'm definitely going to see if I can get something like that together! Thanks for the idea! :)

Allison- I am already registered, but thank you for encouraging people to sign up! My thoughts are with your family. Wouldn't it be weird if we were a match? (I don't think I'd find out if we were, though- I don't think they tell you who you're donating to.)
As for the cupcakes, they look lovely. I thought orange was the color of hunger. And I know this is odd and perhaps awful to say, but all the "good colors" were taken up by the more popular (as charities) cancers already... Pink, red... everyone knows breast cancer, AIDS, and Lance Armstrong- and it's great to help those causes, I know! But renal cell cancer, which is green, man, that was hard convincing people to donate...
In any case, I was thinking you could probably- if you have time or the inclination- raise a lot of money for the cause (either for the organizations or for your family, if the medical bills are giving you trouble) by making these cupcakes and sending them out. Just a thought...

Abby - Thanks! Here is a pretty comprehensive list of all the different colors for awareness of different causes (not just cancers). Thanks for your thoughts and prayers... they are very much appreciated. Definitely will be making these again!

Nicole - Thank you so much. :) Every extra person who can get tested is another possible match for a cancer patient. I'm in the process of getting my results from when I got tested for my brother put in one of the bone marrow databases.

Robert-Gilles - Thank you so much! That's another great website for the cause!

Allison, I already sent out an email to a donation center in Texas close to where I will be in about 3 weeks when I go to visit my family. I will, however (to see if it can go faster), call my local Red Cross when they open tomorrow and see what I can do. I'll try to get the word out and will keep my fingers crossed for you guys.

They are so pretty! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I didn't know about the different colors so I'm wracking my brain to see how I can help out other causes now, too! My thoughts and prayers are with your brother and family - I wish you all the best and lots of comfort. When he's feeling better you'll have to make these for him again! (And no shame in my game, either. I love store-bought icing. Sooooo creamy.)
